  Update on Tn Tornado's

  hey everyone...tink is spending the night at her younger brothers and called me a few minutes ago with an update i thought you would be interested in.. the tornado was ranked as an f3.

  two people died in coffee county (manchester,tn).

  one 10 year old and an older man around his late 40's.

  Governor Sundquist and the President of FEMA visited the entire area over the past couple days. 16 counties were declared a disaster so they will be able to recieve federal aid. People from all over just showed up to help. It was quite a sight to see. The mother of the young boy and the wife of the man who lost their lives, were interviewed and thanked everyone for their love and kindness. It was heartbreaking to see. The other areas all have similar stories.

  Saturday night before the Sunday barrage of tornado's, we had violent storms and a few tornado's pass north of us about 8 miles. It killed a school teacher and her husband while they were sleeping about 10 miles northwest of us. The tornado passed us to the north and hit Portland,Tn. doing extensive damage. It was rated an F3. Tink and I are safe, and we've been helping with the relief work and with cleaning up the mess left behind. Alot of great people!!!!

  PS: Two of Tink's sisters (active JW's) also have been helping greatly the past few days. They brought food, clothing, and really helped out with the clean up. They were friendly to Tink also which suprised me.

  Hey Everyone...Tink is spending the night at her younger brothers and called me a few minutes ago with an update I thought you would be interested in.

  The Tornado was ranked as an F3. Two people died in Coffee County (Manchester,Tn). One 10 year old and an older man around his late 40's. Both people lived within a couple hundred yards of Tink's brother's home. He new both families very well. The boy and his mother rented the house they lived in from her brother who owns five homes total. The man who was killed was survived by his wife who was also severely injured in the disaster, she is in stable condition after being critical for the last two days. The young boy's mother was released this morning and was interviewed on TV tonight. It was earlier reported she was temporarily paralized but was being helped along by family when she was interviewd. The Fed. Government is going to give financial aid to those without Insurance.

  Tink said that her brothers Insurance agent (whom he knew for many years) asked him where they were staying. Her brother told him they were staying in a Motel. The man said that he had a house he was selling on his own and didn't expect it to sell anytime soon, so he told Tink's brother to move his family in and stay as long as he needs too until he gets his home repaired. I just couldn't believe it!! She said people were bringing food, clothing, medical supplies, and just pitching in with cleaning up ALL DAY long!

  I was there on Monday, the day after, it was very overwhelming to me. I have never been directly involved on a disaster site. I didn't speak for about an hour. Tink and I feel very bad for the two families who suffered loss of their loved ones. We are very grateful that her brother survived. The path of the tornado was within 100 feet of his home. It sickened us both to think of what might have happened. Thanks to all who posted such kind words on Tink's earlier post, we really appreciate your concern.

  as has been stated already, the presentation made from the silent lambs source in connection with the child abuse issue completely misrepresents my position.

  when i spoke by phone recently with the author of that presentation, and pointed out that i had never expressed the views presented, his comment was that from his previous conversation with me (held some months earlier) he "got the impression that i was not on the same wave length" with him.

  I have just read through this entire thread. Afterwards, Tink and I discussed it and we both hope this dispute will end. It will benefit all of us if we do. Ray has helped bring alot of facts to the public eye with his books and it has clearly helped thousands to see more clearly into the WTS. Bill has taken a personal stand for helping and protecting children who have been abused within the guise of religion. He has taken this effort publicly. His actions speak louder than words. I hope that we can put this all behind us and move on.

  A personal note to Bill----- Tink and I still have the same view towards you and the efforts you are putting forth in protecting abused children. Please continue in your public defense towards all the Silent Lambs. We look forward to seeing you again at the next ex-j.w. meet-up.

  two women came to my door tonight.

  they were walking house to house in the dark, offering free deluxe bibles and an invitation to their baptist church!.

  their were not giving a practiced presentation, they were not condemning other religions, they were not looking down on me and my family.

  IW, I feel the same anger as you.

  I feel this also is related to your topic.

  Tink and I occasionally watch Oprah together when I get home, she tapes the really good shows so we can watch them during supper. One show last year was about an older black couple. The women worked in Walmart and her husband was a postal worker I think? She saved all her earnings and bought toys all year long to give to children at Christmas. The very next week after Christmas she started all over again for the next Christmas. She did that for years and is still doing it. At the end of the show I turned to Tink and said, "and those beautiful people are going to be destroyed at Armaggedon, Right?"

  We live in the south and have many denominations all around. Our neighbors are the best people you'll ever meet and they always invite us to church with them, but never pressure us. We went last year to a Christmas ricital with our neighbors and enjoyed it very much. No one asked us pressuring questions as to why we do not attend church regularly, they just talked to us about how we liked the program and that was it. Oh yeah and they'll be destroyed at Armaggedon too!!

  the aid book i thought was very good mine is on loan to my dad who is an elder in another denomination so hopefully its still of some use.

  The pink colored Paradise book for the children....I think that's what it was called.

  I especially liked the depiction of Armageddon with the building's falling and people running with terror on their faces...great children's book!!!

  i have been searching for a job since march, and finally got one waiting tables at a pool hall.

  they fired me today due to "pushing" someone that i asked to excuse me.

  When Tink ask's me for a simple answer to a simple question I start with a big detailed answer...she soon cuts me off....LOL

  I'm very technically oriented...(Mechanical Engineering profession). Bad speller. One of the "good guys"...at least I try aweful hard to be.

  Celebrity Look-alikes on JWD

  when i was a jw kid, one of the ways we amused ourselves at assemblies, conventions, and the local kh was to play "spot the celebrity".

  fortunately for us, the joyful throngs of jehovah's people were brimming with celebrity look-alikes, so we were able to enjoy many upbuilding sessions of "spot the celebrity".
